Manchester United reportedly believe Cristiano Ronaldo will make a U-turn following the arrival of Casemiro and Antony.
The 37-year-old applied to leave Old Trafford in July, despite previously giving no indication of his desire to leave, and his request was met with huge cheers from his team-mates, who feel he has become a “pain in which has become A” **e’.
Ronaldo scored 24 goals in 38 games last season but United’s performances suffered after his move from Juventus.
The forward wants to join a club in the Champions League and was absent from United’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia for “family reasons”.
But The Sun are now reporting that United believe Ronaldo will remain at Erik ten Hag’s side with the transfer window set to close on Thursday.
Ronaldo is believed to be impressed with United’s recent transfer deal. The Red Devils have signed Brazil international Casemiro from Real Madrid in a deal that could be worth up to £70million.
United have also confirmed they have a deal in place to sign Antony from Ajax.
A move for the Brazil striker has been in the works for the past few days – believed to be worth a fixed fee of £80.6m with a further £4.2m in add-ons – and United have now announced they that the signing should be done by.
The deal is subject to a medical, completion of player conditions and international clearance, but United bring in a player who has 31 goals and 27 assists in 134 club appearances for Ajax and Sao Paulo, as well as two goals for Brazil.
The 22-year-old is reunited with former Ajax manager Ten Hag, who already raided his old club for defender Lisandro Martinez.
United are currently 11th in the Premier League, having won two and lost two in their first four Premier League games, and are next in action when they take on Leicester City on Thursday night to record three straight wins.
