Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have been dropped from Liverpool’s squad for the Champions League group stage.
Jürgen Klopp’s side play in Group A alongside Ajax, Napoli and Rangers and will start the season against the Serie A club next Wednesday.
But Liverpool will be without both Keita and Oxlade-Chamberlain for their group stage campaign after they were dropped from the official squad list.
Keita is yet to play for Liverpool this season and ahead of Liverpool’s goalless draw with Everton on Saturday, Klopp revealed the midfielder will be sidelined “for a while”.
“It’s a muscle injury,” said Klopp. “For him, a muscle injury Ox is a muscle injury and they will be out for a while.”
Both players could return to Liverpool’s squad for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
