Arsenal trio Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes have all been dropped from Brazil’s new squad for the upcoming World Cup friendlies against Ghana and Tunisia this month.

All three Arsenal players were included in the Brazil squad for the friendlies against South Korea and Japan in June, although Gabriel Magalhaes did not play in either game with a hamstring injury and is yet to earn his first international cap.

Jesus and Martinelli have both had a superb start to the new Premier League season and have played key roles in Mikel Arteta’s side winning five of their six games so far.

However, they will not feature in Brazil’s games against Ghana and Tunisia during the forthcoming international break.

When asked about Jesus’ absence from the squad, Brazil head coach Tite said the decision allowed him to take a closer look at other players.

“Gabriel Jesus in particular is having a great time and is in the running. Absolutely yes,’ Tite said.

“These callings serve as opportunities for others. As well as others related to this. In terms of the number of attackers. Football is creation and scoring and defensive solidity. If you run away from these traits, you lose.

“That balance point is very difficult in a team and we look for it. This number of attackers is not determined. The versatility of the athletes is an important part.”
