Jude Bellingham perfectly summed up Erling Haaland’s brilliant goal as Manchester City edged past Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

City fell behind in the second half at the Etihad Stadium through Bellingham’s goal before John Stones leveled the hosts with ten minutes remaining.

Haaland, barely involved throughout the game, scored City’s winner four minutes later, acrobaticly deflecting Joao Cancelo’s brilliant cross with a superb volley past the Dortmund keeper.

Haaland was greeted with a rueful smile by his old Dortmund team-mates after the full-time whistle, while TV cameras caught Bellingham saying “fuck it man” to the City striker while they hugged.

When asked about Haaland’s goal after the game, Bellingham said: “It shows his quality.

“He’s not always in the game but you know you half-snoop on him and he can score and he did that tonight.”

Haaland, meanwhile, hit out at critics who highlighted his lack of involvement during City’s build-up play.

“It was a special goal I have to say, I scored a bit of the same for Dortmund against Dortmund, I’ve tried in the last few games I’ve played for City and finally it worked, it was a nice goal, ‘ Haaland told beIN Sport.

“It was easy for me to stay focused like I always do.

“People might talk about me not touching the ball enough and this or that, I don’t care. I know what I’m going to do, what I have to do and that’s what I did today in a difficult game and that’s what I will continue to do.

“My dream is to touch the ball five times and score five goals, that’s my biggest dream.”
