Manchester City are in talks over a deal to sign Borussia Dortmund centre-back Manuel Akanji.
Swiss international Akanji is in the final year of his contract and has yet to appear for Dortmund this season.
City manager Pep Guardiola did not rule out more deals ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline when he spoke to the press at his press conference ahead of Wednesday’s game against Nottingham Forest.
Asked about any other moving business, he said, “I don’t know, I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Akanji has been a target for Inter Milan this summer, according to Sky in Italy.
They have reported on this window that Dortmund want between £13m (€15m) and £17m (€20m) to sell.
City have four centre-backs on their squad, but Aymeric Laporte has yet to appear this season due to injury. Robin Dias, John Stones and Nathan Ake competed for minutes, but the latter is also currently sidelined.
Akanji moved to Dortmund from Basel in 2018 and has been in the first team since his arrival. He participated in 36 matches in all competitions last season.
But the 27-year-old was pushed down in Dortmund with the summer arrivals of Niklas Sule from Bayern Munich and Nico Schlutterbeek from Freiburg.
