Arsenal hope four of their injured stars are back and ready to face Tottenham in the north London derby on Saturday – although Cedric Soares has now taken a hit.
The Gunners have a series of fitness issues ahead of the weekend, with Kieran Tierney and Thomas Partey both being forced to retire from international duty over the past week.
Takehiro Tomiyasu also made an early return to London Colney after his game for Japan against USA, while Oleksandr Zinchenko was unable even to link with Ukraine after a calf problem.
But according to Football London, all four players are on the verge of a return and could be involved in Saturday’s midday kick-off against Spurs.
Tierney was released by Scotland on a precautionary basis after suffering a concussion against Ireland and Arsenal have received positive news that he should be fine to play.
The other trio of Tomiyasu, Zinchenko and Partey are still being evaluated by Arsenal’s medical team but they remain hopeful they will be made fit for Saturday’s squad.
Despite being called up by Ghana and traveling, Partey did not play a minute for his country after suffering a knee injury.
After Partey left the squad ahead of last week’s clash with Brazil, Ghana boss Otto Addo said: “Hopefully Thomas will be healthy very, very soon.
“We didn’t want to take that risk in a friendly against Brazil, but it would certainly have been helpful to have a player like him against a side like Brazil.”
Captain Martin Odegaard, meanwhile, missed Arsenal’s last game against Brentford with a calf problem but played in both Norwegian Nations League games against Slovenia and Serbia and should be fine for the north London derby.
Reiss Nelson is back in training but Mohamed Elneny remains sidelined as the Egyptian is still recovering from a hamstring injury.
Whilst Mikel Arteta has received plenty of positive news on the injury front, Cedric Soares has suffered another blow that will keep him out of action for around two weeks, having only just returned from an injury that saw him miss games against FC Zurich has missed and Brentford.
